Sesungguhnya peranan menyediakan sumber tenaga
mahir adalah tanggungjawab bersama.
Sekian terima kasih dan Selamat Maju Jaya.

Foreword from the Deputy Dean
From Deputy Dean (Student Affairs & Networking)
It is an undeniable fact that internships are the most effective way for students to learn a wide range
of skills and gain valuable work experience outside their classroom or before they graduate.
Nowadays, the students who are eligible for internship can easily access to various opportunities such
as JobStreet or Graduateland. In fact, studies have shown that more than 50% internships particularly
for science interns turn into full‐time jobs.
Over the years, there were more than 50% of our students qualified for the internships‐have had
chosen the program and spent 8‐10 weeks in public as well as private sectors including government
agencies, the multinational, small‐and‐medium industres (SMI) and USM research centers. Students
from the School of Chemical Sciences were still in the 2nd year when they undergone the internship
program. As an intern, they will be provided not only on the job training, but other mentoring and
coaching by respective department and company.
As for academic year 2014/2015, the program had commenced from 29 June 2015. Today the 2015
program finally ends and I strongly believe that many of our interns had received the wonderful
memories. Some of the interns might find that they had to work with the supervisor or superiors in
the workplace who were total strangers at the beginning but by the end they were able to form a
bond of friendship with them due to their immense support throughout the training.
In short, we can say that the internship is not merely aimed for a certificate but more important is the
opportunity to experience life. To all our interns who had completed their training in 2015, I would
like to congratulate you and wish you have a successful life in years to come.

Pencapaian keseluruhan adalah baik dan
memuaskan. Pelajar ini mempunyai kebolehan
untuk menyiapkan tugasan yang diberi dengan
pengawasan yang minimum. Dia juga menyiapkan
tugasan dalam masa yang ditetapkan. Pada
pendapat saya, 8 minggu latihan industri tidak
cukup untuk pelajar mempertambahkan
pengetahuan mereka.
OH Siew Choo
Water Treatment Department
Pelajar merupakan seorang yang rajin, dedikasi dan
komited terhadap tugas yang diberikan oleh
penyelia/pegawai atasan. Beliau bersedia untuk
belajar suatu yang baru terutamanya yang melibatkan
kaedah analisis untuk kimia persekitaran. Sekiranya

Miss Nurhazimah has shown considerable work
ethic since her industrial training roughly 2 months
ago. She has shown to be able to work
independently when it comes to documentation as
well as team player during R&D activities.

R&D Manager

... During the 8 weeks program, Azwani managed her
training schedule quite well and completed the
schedule on time....
... The quality of work that she produces are expected
productivity as a student. She mixed well with people
around her and communicated with them...
...In my opinion, this internship program is good for
the student to get exposure in oleochemical business
and get the chances to apply whatever they have
learnt at the university.

Mr Bong Kuan Ming continuously exceeds
expectations in the role of trainer. He is a fast
learner and a good team player. He effectively
adapts to change, works well with others and has a
very positive attitude.
Winnie Ling
Lab Manager
Chemsain Konsultant Sdn. Bhd.
Di sepanjang latihan industri ini, pelajar menunjukkan
minat yang tinggi dalam pekerjaannya, ini ditunjukkan
dengan setiap tugasan yang diberikan dilaksanakan
dengan sempurna dan berkualiti. Secara
keseluruhannya, pelajar ini adalah seorang yang
berdedikasi and berwibawa.
Malakoff Power Berhad
The candidate gave consistent results on the
projects assigned. She is able to work with another
student on their projects. However, she needs to
be more initiative to learn up things independently
and explore more about the manufacturing
process. USM could have collaboration with
industry on students’ final year project which can
let the students have more practical experience.
