Deputy Chairman/Group Managing Director's message

Dear fellow Bousteadians,

Overcoming challenges and dealing with difficulties are not new to the Boustead Group. The fact that the Group delivered an improved performance for the first half of the year, despite the volatile economic climate, clearly demonstrates our resilience and abilities.

As a diversified Group, our fundamentals remain strong. At the same time, we are focused on unlocking value within our business units. The RM311 million profit after tax realised in the first six months of the financial year marked a significantly

improved performance compared to the previous year. This was achieved through the disposal of our stake in Jendela Hikmat Sdn. Bhd. as well as non-core plantation lands. With this, the Property and Plantation Divisions clocked in as the two biggest contributors to our bottom line for the second quarter.

The Group’s healthy balance sheet has enabled us to deliver value to our shareholders, with a second interim dividend of 4 sen per share for the financial year ending 31 December 2016. This is again testament to our solid footing amidst the tough economic climate.

I am also pleased to note that our dedication to the community has not faltered and is in fact getting stronger by the year. BHPetrol recently held its 11th annual Orange Run, raising a total of RM30,000 which was distributed to three charitable organisations, namely Pertubuhan Kebajikan Asnaf Al-Barakh Malaysia, Beautiful Gate Foundation For The Disabled and Independent Living & Training Centre Malaysia. With over 3500 runners participating early on a Sunday morning, it was indeed heartening to see so many uniting for a good cause.

In light of our strong performance for the first half of the year, I would like to commend all Bousteadians for your dedicated efforts. Over the next three months, I encourage all to maintain this momentum and work together to drive the Group forward.

Thank you.

Tan Sri Dato' Seri Lodin Wok Kamaruddin

Kebajikan Asnaf Al-Barakh Malaysia, Beautiful Gate Foundation For The Disabled dan Independent Living & Training Centre Malaysia.

Terima kasih.

Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Lodin Wok Kamaruddin

Congratulations to our Certified Internal Auditors (CIA) graduates

Mohd Hafizam Abdul Halim and Mohd Asrul Affendi Ab Jalil did

the Company proud when they recently attained the Certified Internal Auditors (CIA) certification from Institute of Internal Auditors Malaysia (IIAM).

Asrul’s career began in 2007 when he joined Wilhelmsen Ship Management Sdn. Bhd. as an Assistant Vessel Accountant before he decided to change his career to audit and joined the Boustead family in August 2011 as a Senior Executive in the Group Internal Audit. He was recently promoted to an Assistant Manager and has benefitted from the Group’s various business industries.

He acknowledges that studying whilst working full time is challenging as there will be sacrifices required and time management is the most important aspect of all. Nevertheless, he managed to successfully complete the Boustead CIA Programme within the three-year period and graduated in August 2016.

“My parents are my greatest inspiration and source of encouragement. They have been there to support me whenever I lose my way, and I cannot even imagine where I would be today were it not for their patience and wisdom. My wife too has stood by me through thick and thin, and it is comforting to know that come what may, I'll always have her support and calming presence with me.”

Asrul intends to give back to Boustead by applying all the invaluable knowledge and experiences he has obtained. He is

Congratulations Mohd Hafizam Abdul Halim!Hafizam’s career began in 2003 when he joined an insurance company as an Internal Auditor. As a fresh graduate and a quick learner, he absorbed his new knowledge and experience like a sponge. What started out as 'experimenting' with audit, internal audit consequently became his new passion in his career.

He then continued his career in internal audit with several companies in various industries such as financial, transportation, logistics and heavy industries. Having acquired vast experience in the internal audit for ten years, Hafizam joined Boustead Holdings Berhad in January 2013 and a year later he was identified as one of the internal auditors to participate in the Boustead CIA programme.

Amid heavy workload and packed schedules, he accepted this new challenge. His determination in developing himself further in this field saw him successfully balancing his time between work and study.

Eventually all the sacrifices that he made paid off. As tough as it got, Hafizam managed to complete all of his exam papers with flying colours and he became the first participant

from the Boustead CIA programme to attain the CIA certification.

Hafizam thanks his wife and parents for their enormous support and encouragement throughout. He is also extremely grateful to En. Mohamad Azlan Jaafar, Senior General Manager of the Group Internal Audit for his mentorship and guidance and to the Group Human Capital Management for providing him the opportunity and giving him their full support whilst he was undergoing the Boustead CIA programme.

A graduation ceremony was organised by IIAM at the Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel.IIAM also presented the 2014 Corporate Award to Boustead for
