• Arkitek Azman Zainal telah ditubuhkan oleh Ar Azman Zainal Md Nor. Beliau memulakan kerjayanya di Cawangan Kerja Perubatan dan Kesihatan , JKR pada tahun 1986. Firma ini didaftar kan di Bandaraya Bersejarah Melaka dan ia juga memiliki sebuah pejabat di Shah Alam. Beliau merupakan salah seorang dari pengasas dan pengarah Das Azman Architect Sdn. Bhd. dari 1992 hingga 2008.

kepakaran yang luas merangkumi bidang perancangan hospital, institusi-intitusi pendidikan, kerja kerja pemulihan dan pemugaran bangunan-bangunan bersejarah hingga lah ke bangunan pejabat, komersil dan perumahan.

Introduction

• Arkitek Azman Zainal was established by Ar. Azman Zainal Md Nor. He started his architectural career in the Medical and Health Branch, Public Works Department in 1986. The head office is registered in the historic city of Melaka and it also has an office in Shah Alam. He was one of the founder of Das Azman Architect Sdn Bhd where he was the director there from 1992 t0 2008.

•  The firm has within it a diverse range of expertise ranging from hospital planning, educational institutions, rehabilitation and restoration for historic buildings to office, commercial and residential buildings.

• Arkitek Azman Zainal is design driven and its main objective is to be known and recognized for its design that is unique , has local cultural content and one that functions well.

Restoration Masjid Jamek Kuala Lumpur

This mosque was built in 1908 and both the building and its surrounding compound were gazetted as national heritage. Repair works mainly involved damaged downpipes and roof covering , replacement of damaged tiles ,window frames, brickwork as well as addition of new audio visual facilities and functional spaces. Also new carved timber minbar and quranic caligraphy were made for the main prayer hall.

A dream house peering into the Straits of Malacca

This house is totally built in timber mainly of recycled cengal and merbau. It is 3 stories high and overlooks the 4th mile beach . The lower ground is an open living space. The upper floors comprise of family areas and rooms.

This design is based purely on security considerations as it is categorized as high security facility. Natural bricks are utilized for a major part of the facade to give it a more stately look and feel. It is symmetrical which also enhance the authoritative function of the institution.

Mathew & Sharmila’s Terrace House Renovation 2009

A fresh feel was given to this intermediate terrace house by introducing timber structure and finishing .The roof space was naturally lit and fully utilized to create more usable space . A courtyard was also introduced to improve the air circulation and ambiance of the internal space.. The timber used was from recycled timber of at least 50 years old.

The entire house was pulled down leaving only the party walls and the new house re built mostly in timber. Old timber joinery techniques were used in the timber construction such as scarf joints, mortised and tenon as well as dove tail joints. The project was completed at a cost of $280,000.00

Pusat Komuniti DBKL, Bukit Damansara ,K.L. 2009As a community centre it is important that the building has the right visual impact and to appear friendly and hospitable to the surrounding neighborhood.Simple but bold forms were employed and natural bricks were used throughout the buildings to give it a sense of warmth and friendliness

Pusat Komuniti DBKL, Bukit Damansara ,K.L. 2008The Rotunda (cylinder) houses the multi purpose hall and accommodates 3 badminton courts.. It is fully air conditioned and can easily sit 350 people. The cost of project was approximately RM 6 million .

Azman’s Corner Lot Renovation, Bkt Jelutong, Shah Alam. 2008The little timber extension is a bold experimentation in timber. It adds life to this otherwise plain and homogenous terrace housing area. Apart from the structure and walls, the roof is also made out of timber. The roof is made of chengal, the mullions of Merbau, the walls of Balau and the floor out of Kempas.

Azman’s Corner Lot Renovation, Bkt Jelutong, Shah Alam. 2008Kempas from recycled TNB poles were cut to make the floor boards and were sanded down very fine and left unfinished. Natural oil from human feet later produced a pleasant looking sheen on the floor board.Rengas , a reddish colour timber specie was used to make the TV console. The centre piece of a log was cut out and built up using dove tail joints.

Kolej Islam Melaka, Alor Gajah, Melaka. 2006This represents the core of the college campus. It is important that these buildings look solid but yet friendly. The buildings comprise of classroom blocks, lecture theatre complex and central administration office. The use of natural bricks enhances the educational feel of the complex and makes it look timeless.It was completed at approximately RM9.0 million.

Prince Court Medical Centre, KL. This is a 5 star , 350 bedded medical centre equipped with state of the art facilities. The design was carried out in collaboration with Peddle Thorpe Architects / Health Solutions of Australia. The project was commissioned by PETRONAS and completed at the cost of approximately RM 350 million.

Dr Tajudin House, Precinct 10,Putrajaya. 2009This house is designed around a court yard and aims at achieving the most ventilation and light. The house was designed with humility and moderation in mind. The room sizes are modest but adequate. Merbau is being used extensively throughout the house and chengal was used for the rafters and battens due to its straightness.The use of timber brings back the romanticism and nostalgia of the kampung house. All the timber works throughout the house used traditional timber joinery .

Dr Tajudin House, Precinct 10,Putrajaya. 2009The built up area of the house is 400m2 ,comprising of 5 bedrooms, attic, living, family ,dining , kitchen and laundry. It was completed at approximately RM1.0million.

Kolej Kemahiran Tinggi MARA Alor Gajah, Melaka. 2007The campus covers an area of 70 acres of which 40acres is being developed in the first phase. The campus comprise of central teaching complex, sports complex, multi purpose hall, mosque, student housing, engineering workshops , dining hall and student center. The facilities are organized around courtyards distributed throughout the campus. The organization of the campus is centered around the main teaching block which comprise of classrooms, lecture theatres and administration office. The project costs Rm57 million.

Kompleks Pejabat Kerajaan Parcel C, Putrajaya, Selangor. 2003This one of the early building complex ever being built in Putrajaya and was strictly based on the Urban Design Guidelines stipulated by Putrajaya Corporation. The façade design is double skin comprising of a concrete wall with aluminum sun shading and a glass panel wall on the inside. The complex was completed at an approximate cost of RM300 million.

Pejabat & Pusat Penyelidikan MIMOS, Kulim, Kedah 2005The design solution is in response to the dull and homogenous surrounding which is typical of an industrial area. The design aims at making the presence of MIMOS in Kulim felt.The spaces are organized around a central courtyard planted with forest landscape. A dynamic roof form helps to portray MIMOS as a dynamic and progressive establishment . This project cost approximately RM8 million.

Pejabat & Pusat Penyelidikan SIRIM, Kuantan, Pahang. 2005

This building is perched on a hill overlooking a busy intersection. The design is in response to and in tandem with the high energy level at the corner site. The bold design is also intended to announce the presence of SIRIM in Kuantan. The building was completed at approximately RM 15 million.

KFC Drive Thru & Pizza Hut Restaurant, Melaka. 2009This is a stand alone restaurant building housing two brands. A high roofed outdoor eating area tie up both the restaurant together and represents one of the favourite way Malaysians like to have their food. The design is strong and eye catching to attract customers plying the busy main road in front of it. The project cost approximately RM4.0 million.
